Today's date is the sixteenth of February 2011.
Okay, so so far in Hospitality we have used six recipes so far, my favourite being the sticky date pudding. We made chutney and cheese mini muffins first, which I liked after they were cooked, but not before, because the smell of parmesan doesn't exactly agree with me. The chutney smelled good though, even if it WAS tomato.
Next we made Jaffa Muffins, which I enjoyed immensly, not only because it was a sweet recipe, but also the first recipe that involved CHOCOLATE! Needless to say, I learnt new skills making Jaffa muffins, such as zesting.
The third recipe we used was Rigitoni with chicken and sundried tomato, which was, despite the tomato, was absolutely delicious. It helped me to work on different types of cuts, especially as I diced the chicken instead of stripping it.
The fourth recipe was the delightful chocolate mousse, which of course was another exciting recipe. I would have prefered milk chocolate to dark chocolate, health benefits aside, because the dark chocolate was a little rich for me. I learned how to melt chocolate properly over steam and I think I will definately be making mousse again!
Recipe number five and six were made on the same day, five being Sticky Date Pudding and the six being Chocolate Self-Saucing pudding and because we were making two recipes, my partner, Emily Hayn and I, spilt up, with Emily taking over on the chocolate pudding and me making the sticky date pudding. It was a good thing we split up, because otherwise we would have never been able to make both! I especially liked the Sticky date pudding, in particular the caramel sauce, even though it was incredibly sugary. Cutting the dates up took ages though....
